K-Palette - Creation of Style -

Advertorial

It's been Japanese fever lately. Just did the Tokyo Street Fashion Show yesterday at Pavilion, watched Miyavi live in The Stage, Avenue K and got to party with him and now I'm doing an advertorial about K-Palette a makeup brand from Japan famous for their award winning Real Lasting Eyeliner which has sold 1 billion units since it's launching a few years back.

I was invited by K-Palette to attend their beauty talk in Sasa last week with Miss Noriko Imura, K-Palette's lead makeup artist in product development with over 20 years of experience and a clientele of celebrities.

K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer

Besides showcasing the Real Lasting Eyeliner, we were introduced to a new product the K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer in three shades with different purposes. Natural Beige in rose packaging for coverage and moisturizing effect, Yellow Beige in pastel orange packaging to conceal uneven tone and Orange Beige in blue packaging to conceal dark circles due to poor circulation which can occur from straining the eyes when using electronic devices.

Miss Noriko applying the concealer with light strokes on her model.

Only a minute amount- the size of a pearl is needed to instantly brighten the eyes. Directions for usage is to apply base foundation -> liquid foundation -> Zero Kuma -> Loose powder.

Another interesting product we were taught to use is the Lasting Two Way Eyebrow pencil available in Chocolate Brown and Honey Brown. The powder applicator is used for the start of the eyebrow and the end of the eyebrows are defined using the liquid brush applicator. It is smudge proof and sebum, water and perspiration resistant.

The Lasting Two Way Eyebrow Pencil

Miss Noriko explains how different lengths of eyebrows can evoke a different "feel". For the kawaii look- a shorter rounder eyebrow lined up against the edge of your lips or the sexy look- against the edge of your nose.

The finished product. Both Miss Noriko and her model looks flawless.

Also received a goodie bag from K-Palette with a host of products! :)

Chinahouse Cafe@ Penang

I haven't had a personal blogpost in a bit.

Went down to Penang with the Uni mates for a "Fuck classes, let's eat!" holiday after the semester ended. And boy did we eat... and eat and eat and eat and when we were full we went and ate some more. For three days after that I had an aversion to fried foods (and diarrhea) but lets not get into that.

A friend recommended we drop by Chinahouse Cafe, this old building that was converted into a cafe/arthouse/gallery done through the combination of many old shophouses. Gorgeous place to spend the afternoon eating cakes, escaping the Malaysian heat and enjoying each other's company. Wasted the afternoon away with crayons and Mahjong paper.

Had a bit of drama earlier this week with missing my car keys and having to leave it stranded in front of  the Wernasaurus's house for three days before getting someone to come down and clip off the immobilizer. But the rest of the week seems to be going fine and dandy, I've received free tickets to Miyavi's concert tomorrow from James who is our model booker at ACA, attending an eyeliner demonstration by K-Palette on Thursday, walking Max Factor in Midvalley on Friday, walking Tokyo Street Fashion shows in Pavillion for Saturday and walking for Elken lingerie in Melaka on Sunday. All's well, ends well I guess. :)

PS: Semester results are out! Two distinctions and two passes, that's not bad for barely making it to class all semester. *shrugs*

ASOS Nail Stickers

Asos Nail Stickers in Aztec Print

You've probably seen them all over my Instagram, Path and Twitter.

But I NEVER get to have nice nails! I'm having a ten day break between now and the next few shows, got these in the mail a while back but finally got the chance to use them. They cost about 4 pounds with free shipping.

Inside each packet are 16 stickers of various sizes, a cuticle stick, mini nail file and acetone wipe. You're supposed to file your nail down, wipe with acetone then stick the stickers on filing off the excess. Easier said than done, it's hard to get them not to fold over and stay wrinkle free as my nails are thin and narrow.

Camwhore with my left hand.

I doubted them at first but this is day three and the left hand is still going strong; the left hand came off in the bath because I didn't stick them on properly. However I've been able to cook, wash and scrub my hair and basically do everything else without them coming off. I'll let you know if it stays on for ten days as promised.

New band discovery!

I love it!"

PS: I'll eventually get round to a Krabi post. The way i'll "eventually" get round to my Penang post. Lol.

Le Ann Maxima Fall Holiday Preview

Advertorial

Yes. This is ANOTHER advertorial. Personally, I think it is tres important to always state whether or not you are getting paid or incentives to do blog posts. It is only the ethical thing to do, else I have heart palpitations in the middle of the night telling me I'm a sell out. (Boo.)

So I was invited to the Le Ann Maxima Fall Holiday 2012/13 Preview Fashion show last week; their flagship store in Jaya One was transformed into a runway, no stage, just chairs lined up the length of the store, very New York Fashion Week.

The runway lined with gold leaves.

Scored the best seats with these two lovelies, Samantha on my left and Sui Ying on my right.

There wasn't really a main theme I could pinpoint in the collection, it was a play of bright colors, prints, and materials paired with an urban luxe style and the clothing ranged from casual chic to all out gorgeous evening dresses.
Feast your eyes. I only wish I could bring the pieces home with me.

Gorgeous pieces that could easily go from the office to a night out with a few added accessories.
Party cocktail dresses, I cannot describe how incredibly in love I am with the dress in the middle, I have a thing for asymmetrical skirts.
Loving the play of fall themed print on various pieces, especially the shorts.
Fantastic maxi dresses with daring thigh high slits sure to turn heads wherever you go.
The peplum cut was a prevalent design among the dresses, sure to bring out curves. The electric blue is a personal favorite.
Top picks.

It was hard but definitely [1] This Chanel-esque demure cream dress, though I would prefer it a bit more fitted and short. [2] The vintage print top and knicker shorts, that print + the short shorts? To DIE for! [3] The flared almond pink pants, like something out of a 70's dream. I want to pair it with a cropped bandeau top and floral head band and just lie in the grass. Lol.

Le Ann Maxima Giveaway!

Alright girls, it's giveaway time. Simply leave a comment stating "I deserve to shop at Le Ann Maxima because..." and the best comment wins a RM100 shopping voucher! It's that easy. Winner will be announced in the comments section by me on the 18th of July!

Furless, Be Fearless.

Advertorial

Yes. I've been doing a fair bit of advertorials lately so expect to be bombarded with products and services when you're reading my blog. However I've been trying to limit it to things I really like and things I'd want to do rather than take anything that will pay me. So at least I'd have a bit of opinion or knowledge of what I'm trying to promote.

In the lounge area.

Furless is a waxing salon that recently opened in Jaya One and lucky me got a voucher that entitles me to three TOTALLY FURLESS waxing sessions. If you still haven't gotten the hint- it's a bikini wax.

Now I've never been a very hairy girl, I barely have eyebrows and eyelashes! So apart from the occasional mandatory neatening measures, I have never gotten a wax and to be honest, the whole business just sounds plain intrusive to me.

But the lady there was very chatty and explained the whole procedure out to me step by step and in the end... we're all women aren't we?

The pink is for short hairs, the green for the long hairs and the orange for the "sensitive" areas. (I hope I got this right.)

I should shoot down a rumor that my friends were absolutely flabbergasted by: NO. They do not make you get on all fours and spread you like an animal. Nothing quite degrading as that, they're very gentle and I was simply asked to lie on my side for certain areas. Also, I got quite comfortable chit-chatting with my technician after a while. :P

I should explain the how it goes- before the session starts you're asked to clean up and sanitize, then you're led to one of three rooms in Furless and asked to remove your clothing and cover yourself with a towel, your er... waxing technician enters and sanitizes you again one last time before covering your eyes with a scented relaxing eye beanbag thing (Once again... extremely eloquent.) before starting the session, which you can watch through a body length horizontal mirror on the wall by the bed.

Chic-looking private rooms.

As for the million dollar question, does it hurt? Yes. I'd be lying if I said it didn't. I wasn't screaming in agony but on a scale of one to ten, one being a bee sting and ten being a direct slap to the face, it was a three. The pain is fleeting, afterwards they apply a cooling gel and lotion using a machine that soothes the skin so you don't feel a thing. I can vouch for this, I spent 4 hours in a harness lead climbing in Putrajaya immediately afterwards and didn't feel a thing. :)

A few tips by her I simply must share though: Don't shave girls, don't you always find a way to nick yourself? Doesn't it make it itchy and extremely uncomfortable especially when the stubble (Ew) starts to grow? Also, when you shave the hair grows back immediately, sometimes within a day but for waxing it takes a week or two and the hair grows back fine and soft so it shouldn't hurt the second time. (This I am yet able to verify but I can't wait to go back in ten more days!)

Happy me after the session! Taken by my technician herself. :)

Also, here's a treat for all of you, if you are a first timer, just tell them and get 50% off. Not a first timer? Just refer to me, Sheena Liam@sheenaliam.blogspot.com and get 50% off as well. You can visit their Facebook page HERE for further information on prices, remember to set an appointment to avoid disappointment. ;)

Unrelated but this cutie was feeding her babies right outside Furless. :)

The poor guys who retreated sheepishly to Brussels Beer Cafe because I promised we'd go climbing after.
